David Lim
David's leadership of the landmark 1st Singapore Mt Everest Expedition in 1998 met with hilarity and derision on the onset - being a dweller of flat, tropical city state. However, in a classic underdog story, David led his team to success. A week after his return from Everest, he was totally paralysed by the rare nerve disorder Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Artificially ventilated for 42 days, he spent six months in hospital.
Though he was permanently disabled in both legs, he made a dramatic comeback in climbing the world's great mountains, and returned once more to Everest in 2001. His remarkable story made the cover of the Readers Digest magazine, and his adventures have since been covered by OUTSIDE magazine's " GO", The Wall Street Journal, and other media; and translated into 7 languages. He masterfully links experiences from the great mountain to everyday, applicable skills in the workplace; lending energy, improved belief and positive mindsets to any meeting
Widely experienced in speaking to multi-national audiences in 73 cities and 30 countries, David has engaged and entertained thousands, preferring to show as well as tell, and using a variety of audience partcipation methods. Clients do not receive a keynote, they get to 'join' an exciting journey of discovery, with laughs, tension and tears.
While there are many other "Everest" speakers in the marketplace, David's value-add include:
- outstanding experience in making an impact with international audiences
- showing and telling a classic underdog, bounce-back story, where every one gets a chance to actually participate in the presentation instead of just listening
- able to help event organisers with his team's teambuilding expertise, providing a seamless experience in meetings where the most popular option is often combining a keynote and a separate teambuilding session to internalise much of the keynote's lessons
- offering a raft of spin-off business potential for speaker bureaus through other competencies which include, but are not limited to coaching, teambuilding, leadership and team development tools, corporate retreats
In his lavishly illustrated presentations based on Lessons From Mt Everest, David speaks on importance of passion and vision. He also focuses on the need for embracing change, re-defining success and the boundaries of the possible. What are the right kind of people for projects? What are the right sort of mindsets?

What people are saying
" Your keynote speech left ..many speechless and lost in introspection; others were searching for words to express a sudden surge of self-belief; and at least one participant kept repeating that it was an event that has already changed his life.
When we did a re-cap the next morning, participants fell over each other to call out their favourite point from your presentation. We filled 3 slides with the points that were recalled. "

Negotiating to Win
Testimonials from The Negotiating to Win™ Workshops
The workshop was terrific. Both Ross and I have used many of your techniques already; and I might add quite successfully. I understood where and how much power I had in the negotiation each time. Once I did that I then determined the best style to use based on the work we did, and I ended up with three very close results. Additionally I have put the "nibble" to good use in those negotiations. David, you are a...
