Derrick Farmer is a native of Charleston, SC, raised as an Air Force “brat,” and a Distinguished Military Graduate from Fort Valley State University. Commissioned as an Engineer 2LT in 1988, he retired as a Senior Army Officer after serving as Division Chief for Training and Theater Security Cooperation at USARCENT. Alongside his military service, Derrick pursued advanced studies, earning an MBA in Information Systems, a Master’s in Simulations and Training, and a Master’s in Strategic Studies.


Today, Derrick is the Founder & President of My Father’s Leadership Business, a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth through leadership development and service. He brings together his military discipline, academic preparation, and certifications — including Project Management Professional (PMP), Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and his credential as a John Maxwell Certified Leadership Team Member. Certified to coach, speak, and assess behavior, Derrick equips the next generation with clarity, accountability, and purpose, blending servant-leadership principles with practical tools for impact. His mission is to build transparent, scalable programs that inspire youth to serve with faith, integrity, and vision.
