Alexander "POPS" Wright Jr.

is a native of Fayetteville North Carolina ,he played four years of college basketball at Brunswick Community College in Bolivia, NC for Head Coach Walter Shaw and then finished up is college career at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Fl where he earned his college degree in Business Administration. He then played Professional Basketball in the states and abroad for 11 years in Germany, Luxemburg , France , ABA Jacksonville Giants,  Harlem Ambassadors and Harlem Globetrotters. Now retired he is part of The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) which is a charitable 501(c)3 non-profit organization with a two-pronged mission to assist former NBA, ABA, Harlem Globetrotters and WNBA players in their transition from the playing court into life after the game, while also positively impacting communities and youth through basketball.  Alexander "POPS" Wright Jr.  has an organization in honor of his father Alexander Wright Sr. who pasted away in 2011 of a heart figure named , POPS Motivational (Positive. Optimist. Player. Success)  He never call his father dad he always called him "POPS " so what better way to honor his hero. POPS Motivational initial basketball skill development training and Anti-Bullying speaking engagements with the target audience being elementary, middle and high schools. He enter his coaching career in 2018-2019 season as Head JV , Assistant Varsity and strength and conditioning Coach for the mens basketball program at Northwood high school in Pittsboro North Carolina under Head Coach Mattew Brown. The Varsity Basketball program at Northwood high school had a overall record of 19 wins and 10 losses and made it to the sweet 16 in the 3A North Carolina High School playoffs for the 2018-2019 season. On February 7, 2019 Northwood High defeated then undefeated and ranked number three in the state for 3A in the State of North Carolina Hillside high school of Durham. Northwood High school was honor with the High School OT Upset of the year award for the 2018-2019 season with the win over then undefeated and ranked Hillside High school of Durham North Carolina . Alexander "POPS" Wright Jr. then was an assistant men's basketball coach and also strength and conditioning coach at Fayetteville Tech Community in Fayetteville NC from 2019-2021. He is currently an Residential Mentor and Player Development coach at IMG Academy in Bradenton Fl.
