"I was so impressed with Scott's presentation I invited him to travel across the country to speak at our company's annual leadership conference. We learned more in 6 hours than any of us expected!"

Scott Hannum is a third generation entrepreneur with a career as exceptionally diverse as it is accomplished. At the young age of 13 Scott had already started a number of small businesses out of their family home including a bicycle repair shop and children's summer day camp. The junior promoter went on to secure a racing sponsorship from a local bike shop at age 14 and a sponsorship for his weekend race car at age 17. With the love of cars and racing in his blood Scott eventually worked his way up to Assistant Crew Chief for one of auto racings most colorful and successful drivers, John Force. (Current 16 time NHRA Funny Car World Champion) Spending time with Force, also one of the sports most successful marketers, sparked Scott's fascination with the business side of sports and in 1983 he was hired by one of the nations premiere motorsports facilities, Bandimere Speedway. As Special Events Coordinator and a member of their in-house agency, Scott designed, promoted, and administrated some of Bandimere's most innovative and successful events gaining national media attention. After being promoted to Marketing Services Manager, responsibilities expanded to include the servicing of major marketing clients as well as creative direction for their special interest events. The chance for Scott to spread his own wings came in 1987 with a new venture, HANNUM SPORTS INC. As its president Scott expanded the promotion of amateur and professional sporting events throughout the Rocky Mountain area including the BFGoodrich Off Road Grand Prix Series, Chad Everett Celebrity Tournaments and others. Scott then learned a hard lesson, "When you don't control the real estate, you don't control your future". A call soon came from The National Hot Rod Association based in Glendora, CA with an offer to become one of their National Marking Services Managers. With a move to southern California Scott administrated programs and serviced national and international marketing clients for the world's largest automotive sanctioning body, the NHRA. After only a year Scott's organizational abilities combined with his creative and broadcast production experience in radio and television earned him a promotion to Director of Advertising and Promotions. For the first time in NHRA's history, advertising creative, production, purchasing, and market promotions would be brought in-house for all nineteen championship events. Scott's department went on to direct advertising budgets well in excess of one million dollars and laid the groundwork for marketing programs that are still in use today. Family situations required Scott to return to his home of Colorado and to new opportunities. Scott's father, president of a booming merchant bankcard business wanted to create an in house agency and sales force so Scott was hired as its founding Director of Marketing and Sales. Scott helped to create a unique niche in the marketplace and within the first year positioned their new in-house sales department as #1 in the country. Bank of Boulder Bankcard was now one of the top twenty processors in the U.S. at just over three billion dollars annually. The privately held company was sold after a few years and it was time to take a break from corporate America. As a lifetime athlete Scott decided to take a working vacation and fulfill a dream by applying himself full-time to an athletic endeavor. The next two years were spent training between his home in Colorado and the Olympic Training Center for Modern Pentathlon in San Antonio, TX. Competition in this diverse five event sport, Shooting, Fencing, Cross -Country Running, Swimming, and Horse Jumping is tough and Scott finished as high as 14th at the 1993 U.S. Nationals of Modern Pentathlon and 9th at the 1993 U.S. Fencing Championships. With a position on the 1996 Olympic team looking doubtful, Scott created a new company, Badminton Equestrian Products which designed and marketed a line of up-scale equestrian products nationwide. Badminton expanded to include other consumer goods such as specialty products for the snowmobile industry. After surviving that industries ups and downs, and the 9/11 economy, the company was sold in 2006. Scott has since focused on expanding his consulting and speaking business, Hannum Consulting, which he had started ten years earlier in 1996. Scott has spoken and consulted internationally for companies such as The American Management Assoc, Rockhurst University, ASPE, Inc. and others. Scott has also stayed involved in motorsports as cofounder and President of the Colo. Junior Karting Club in which both of his sons participated, as well as Winged Sprint Cars, Formula style road racing cars and is currently restoring an original 1972 Top Fuel Dragster. Scott resides in Littleton, Colorado with his three children and is "trying" to work on his book entitled: "Purpose, Practices & People; their effect on Time, Productivity & Management".
