Nguyen Griggs

Ed.D.

TX, US

Combining Japanese Jujitsu and business psychology, I improve resilience and boost productivity using dynamic, interactive sessions that increase the impact and application of my content.

I’m Dr. Nguyen “Tom” Griggs, and I draw upon my rich multicultural heritage, martial arts career, and unique life stories to create custom learning experiences. People have described me as a martial arts raconteur who blends self-defense with parables while emphasizing inner reflection and outward connection.

I grew up in the wildly chaotic world of liquor stores and hourly-rate motels. My career has included working for Enron in IT, being an agent for MetLife, and valuing commercial real estate for PWC (Price Waterhouse Coopers). I’ve also worked in debt collections for a department store and as a telephone agent for Continental Airlines. Each job taught me about client service, team cohesion, and “what makes or breaks great leaders.”

Working as a college professor was most enjoyable since I learned as much as I taught. When I earned my doctorate in 2010, I achieved my most significant professional accomplishment. Reflecting upon my work and personal life, my martial arts teachings gave me a strong, grounded foundation to work, learn, grow, and succeed.

My greatest joy is when a client or audience member tells me I made them think or “moved” them to act or pause. Experience has taught me that successful, happy people seek black belt mastery while keeping a white belt spirit. As many industry sectors grapple with technological changes, competition, retention/hiring challenges, and growth, my goal is to be a resource and provide practical, simple lessons that nurture success.

My brand is dynamic, professional, clean (family friendly), and focused on maximizing client satisfaction. Please work with me so I can teach you how to Find Your Inner Black Belt™.
