Yoram Bauman brings together humor, economic savvy, and environmental advocacy. He has performed at New York's Improv, Boston's Comedy Connection, and at ordinarily solemn venues like the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland. He organized the first ever humor session at an American Economic Association annual meeting, and he has shared the stage with personalities as diverse as Robin Williams and Paul Krugman.

On the serious side, Bauman is an environmental economist. He earned a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington, and he teaches in the University's award-winning Program on the Environment as well as at the Bainbridge Graduate Institute.

Bauman has written five books. His Tax Shift is about aligning tax incentives with goals such as reducing greenhouse emissions, and he has partnered with graphic novelist Grady Klein on a series of three "Cartoon Introduction" books covering microeconomics, macroeconomics, and climate change. The goal of this series is to make environmental economics understandable to lay readers. Finally, his Quantum Microeconomics is an e-textbook for introductory and intermediate students in the field.

He also serves as project economist for the Climate Leadership Initiative of the State of Washington, for which he researched and co-wrote Impacts of Climate Change on Washington's Economy.

Bauman has garnered extensive media attention in both his academic and his comedic roles, with coverage in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the leading financial newspapers of Italy and Germany, among many others. He has appeared on the PBS Newshour and NPR's Marketplace.

Bauman offers green and eco-themed comedic performances with content appropriate for conferences, businesses, and campuses. He also speaks seriously (with a few jokes added) on environmental economics, climate change economics, and related issues.

Yoram Bauman was the keynote speaker at the banquet of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce annual Leadership Convention… (He) was thoroughly entertaining, and kept the audience laughing, but buried in the humor were a series of pretty impressive observations.

On behalf of the Law Librarians of Puget Sound I'd like to thank you for your sterling performance at our spring professional development workshop last week. You have a gift - or maybe a couple of gifts: both humor and teaching. You treat the audience members as if they might indeed know what a Laffer Curve is, and that's a treat.

M.W., General Auditor, GMAC Financial Services

GMAC Financial Services audit division recently had the opportunity to contract Yoram Bauman, the one and only Stand-Up Economist, during our auditor conference… The level of energy and entertainment Yoram was able to bring to the meeting was invaluable. His high energy, enthusiasm and excitement… (made for) a perfect Keynote presentation for our participants.
