Chris Birkett is born in London. Music has always been his passion. At 8 years old, he built his first guitar. This first instrument became his way to communicate feelings and emotions. At 14, he started playing concerts in London clubs.

At 21, a group called Montana Red Dog who had heard of Chris's reputation as an excellent guitarist asked him to come to Germany for an eighteen months tour.

From this moment, his life took a new turn. This crossroad was the beginning of a new musical odyssey leading him to collaborate with well known Memphis artists, Rufus Thomas, Ann Peebles, King Floyd and Jean Knight.

At 23, he returned to London to join the famous pop group Love Affair whose song "Everlasting Love" became a hit for many months in the UK charts.

Two years later, he auditioned for a group called Omaha Sheriff who had just signed a major contract with Tony Visconti, the manager of Good Earth Records and the producer of David Bowie, the Moody Blues, Marc Bolan, T-Rex and later of Rita Mitsouko. Visconti became Chris Birkett's mentor and introduced him to the world of music production, arranging and sound engineering.

He rapidly became a producer in his own right working with artists such as: Sinead O'Connor, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Alison Moyet, Dexys Midnight Runners, Talking Heads, The Pogues, Bob Geldof, Mel Brooks, Siedah Garrett, Steve Earle, Ali Amran, Alain Chamfort, ReneLacaille, Talitha Mac Kenzie etc...

In 1993, he moved to France and opened a studio in Bordeaux called Chateau Richard where he collaborated with many international and world music artists; at the same time, he returned to the stage to promote his first album "Men from the sky". The song from this album called "Where do we go from here" was included in the humanitarian album "One Voice, One Love" on Polygram records along side Dire Straights, Peter Gabrial, Queen, Tears For Fears, Bob Marley etc.

In 2009, he recorded his own second album "Freedom" featuring Tony Visconti, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Marc Berthoumieux and Andre Ceccarelli.

Chris is no stranger to Canadian music, having produced four
albums for Canadian artist Buffy Sainte-Marie, including 'Power In The Blood', winner of the Polaris Music prize and 2 Juno's for best Canadian album 2015 and her Juno award-winning album "Running for the Drum" in 2009.

In 2012, he moved to Canada, opened a recording studio in
Toronto and finished work on his third album "Be Creative"
featuring performances from many talented Canadian artists including Glenn Milchem (Blue Rodeo) and Rick Emmett (Triumph).

Testimonials:
"Chris Birkett is electric! His voice is beautiful and rich in tone and candor. His powerful, soulful voice is both raspy and smooth at the same time; with a sound that is reminiscent of a Peter Gabriel, a Rod Stewart, or a Joe Cocker; but with a rawness and a realism that is uniquely his own!! His gripping performance and stage presence will mesmerize you"- Julia Balay

"Chris gave a valuable insight into the creative process and delivered the sessions with great clarity. His production masterclass was captivating. Such a positive spirit!" - Mark (independent musician, at Indie 101)

"I found the workshop really useful and it was a great opportunity to talk to someone with real industry experience. Would highly recommend taking the time to attend" - Sam (independent musician at Indie 101)

"Watching a master at work while he explains what he's doing and being able to hear the process through his ears was one of the best experiences I ever had during a recording workshop. Chris was very thorough and patient in explaining the process and any words we might not know. Very useful, also for home recording" - Leonie (production student)
