
E. Gail Anderson Holness
“They call her the Fannie Lou Hamer and Jarena Lee of the pulpit.” Dr. E. Gail Anderson Holness offers sermonic teachings with an unceremonious tone. Her book, “Lessons in Truth”: Selected Sermons Volume I, already in its Second Printing was released on October 3, 2006 and is packed with teachings relevant to our everyday lives.
Dr. Holness effortlessly blends bible verses with popular culture jargon to speak to people of all ages. Chapters such as “You Are All That and ‘Bout It, ‘Bout It” speak directly to the youth culture, offering messages and teachings that resound with youth, while It’s All Right To Be Single” resounds with more mature audiences seeking to understand the vocations of marriage and single life in the in today’s world. Her life changed upon graduation from Howard University School of Law in 1981, when she became the youngest member of the defense team of The State of Georgia v Wayne B. Williams known as “Atlanta’s Missing and Murdered Children’s case.”
Dr. Holness is a College Administrator, Columnist, Lawyer, Motivational Speaker, Human Rights Activist, Lecturer, Businesswoman, Author and Itinerate Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She has pastored churches in the AME Church and currently serves as Minister for the Young Adult Ministries (YAMS) at Metropolitan AME Church, Washington, D.C.
Dr. Holness earned the following degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Juris Doctorate, Master of Divinity & Doctor of Ministry, and studied for Master of Theology.
She was appointed by the Mayor of Washington, DC to the D. C. Commission for Women. Dr. Holness writes a newspaper column for several periodicals, titled, “Point of View.” She serves in several leadership roles including Vice-President, Council of Churches of Greater Washington, DC and Chaplain for several prominent Washington, D.C. based associations and organizations. Dr. Holness has received numerous awards to name a few, “Order of the Palmetto” from the Governor of South Carolina and “Key to the City” and “Dr. E. Gail Anderson Holness Day” in the City of Columbia. In 2000, South Carolina Vision Magazine featured an article on Dr. Holness as one of the top 25 Influencers in the new millennium.
A well known and widely sought after motivational speaker, Dr. Holness travels extensively nationally and internationally, teaching, preaching, conducting workshops and seminars.
