David Norris

Dr. Norris has years of experience in leadership and negotiations. He enjoys teaching others what he has learned from his mistakes and successes. 

David Norris, MD, MBA, CPE has been practicing medicine for over 11 years. After attending the University of Kansas, he completed his residency in Anesthesiology as well as a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesia at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Within a few years with his present group, he was elected into positions of leadership. Early in his leadership career, he realized he had much more to learn about business and negotiations. This led him to obtain an MBA from Wichita State University. It was through this learning experience that Dr. Norris realized his true passion – to help others become stronger leaders business education.

Many in the community have looked to Dr. Norris for assistance in many projects from creating a successful pre-operative clinic to establishing quality metrics and processes for a local Accountable Care Organization. As an assistant professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Dr. Norris has been able to do what he thoroughly enjoys – teach. He has combined his love of teaching with his passion to create educational systems that foster learning in the areas of business and negotiations. He has worked with the Departments of Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Pediatrics at KU-Wichita in teaching their residents the fundamentals of business practice. Through teaching, mentoring, and coaching, Dr. Norris works towards his mission of helping his fellow physicians.

In March of 2017, Dr. Norris's first book was released. It is titled "The Financially IntelligentP Physician: What They Didn't Teach You in Medical School."
